On the beach in Florida, I am four years old. I see a sailboat at sea and am transfixed by this vision of freedom and beauty. I find a stick and draw in the sand a sailboat, large, large enough to step inside and I do. Instantly I am released to travel beyond the present bounds of space and time. I am as free as that ship upon the sea.
Art for me has never been about decoration or copying the external world, but a transformative and liberating power.
As a professional I have worked in the fields of architecture and design. I have taught drawing, painting and art history at the high school and college level. I have exhibited my work in galleries, museums and large scale public art performances.
I love the natural world and see the earth as our true mother. To get closer to the earth I go backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering and travel our amazing American landscape. I visited Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, discovered rock art and began to be aware of the scope of the ancient peoples who once occupied this land.
Then I met Coyote….
Found you on the Studio 360 group. Good luck with the blog.
HI Jerry! Congratulations on the website! It looks great! I will continue to look at it. Best wishes, Mary Louise
Allow me to send you a copy of my Coyote stories (1993-2003) in Coyote Redux. I can email as pdf or send hard copy to physical address. It’s nice to see someone with parallel experiences.
Yulalona – I have C. Rebooted, C. Recrudescent and C. Renegade. Would welcome any others in hard copy format. Will send you mailing info and more comment to your e-mail address. Thanks, Jerry
This design is steller! You certainly know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my
own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job.
I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Too cool!
Here is my blog post – mieszkania warszawa
Hi Jerry – Joe and I enjoyed meeting and speaking with you last night at Greg Mile’s studio…and our new art piece by you “Coyote Honors His Ancestors”…and we will honor coyote. You also inspired me with your words ‘a visual diary,’ a recognition of how important images are in our lives, inner and outer. May your continued journey with coyote be rich and nourishing. Kind regards, Mary Jo
